inamabilis: (A man so beautiful I started crying)

"Frankly I liked it better that way. Quieter nights, and it was rather funny if he was in a festy way."

Fewer issues having to handle bruises or worry about hickeys if men left him goddamn alone. Armand enjoyed the company of Rubens because they could discuss and talk about paintings all night long and also —like he was doing with Ganymede— they would also trash talk other painters.

"That so? Caravaggio sounds like someone I would have enjoyed meeting. Back then I was a bit of a terror myself. I hope you also made sure he never forgot you."

He was young and therefore childish, but also stubborn in a way that made him challenging and playful. Armand was fascinated with life in a way he's not anymore now; maturing as well as centuries of trauma do that to you.

"Da Vinci? That Leonardo?" Armand perked up, his eyes glinting a brighter orange for a moment. "It's amazing that you got to meet him, not just intimately. He was before my time only by a narrow margin. Did you inspire many of his works?"
