Because, as he said, he likes a partner who actually appreciates his efforts. More so when they're not totally unhinged, that almost deserves mention. He will pay because he's absurdly rich at this point, even if he imagines Ganymede's fortune might be just as high or even much more. If one knows how to take advantage of immortality, one can make quite a bank.

A vampire he might be, but he still enjoys simple gestures like bringing your loved one flowers. Going out for dinner at a fancy restaurant is out of the question, though, even if Armand doesn't mind watching others eat. It's fascinating on its own, and it reminds him that life is full of simple pleasures for those who are still human enough to experience them.
